The Bahrain Special Olympics concluded its participation in the Special Olympics MENA Regional Equestrian Competition, held in Abu Dhabi, from August 24 to 28, achieving an honourable tally of three gold medals, one silver medal, and four bronze medals.
Bahraini equestrian Nayla Al Athem won two gold medals in the English riding and jumping competitions in the (BI) category, continuing her success at both regional and international levels. Meanwhile, athlete Hamad Ismail, who competed for the first time in this championship, claimed gold in the trail and control competition, in addition to securing third place in both the jumping and English riding (BI) competitions.
Athlete Ibrahim Al Ali earned the silver medal in the English riding competition, along with third place in both the trail and control and jumping competitions in the (A) category.
In addition to the competitions, Bahraini athletes and coaches took part in the regional training sessions for coaches and athlete leaders, aimed at exchanging expertise and developing participants’ skills, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance players’ readiness to continue achieving sporting accomplishments at both regional and international levels.
