Registration Now Open for DANAT’s Renowned Pearl Program

The Bahrain Institute of Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) has officially opened registration for its upcoming Professional Pearl Program, scheduled to take place from 24 to 31 October.

This initiative comes as part of DANAT’s ongoing efforts to revitalize Bahrain’s rich pearling heritage, promote knowledge transfer to younger generations, and prepare a qualified national workforce capable of contributing to the preservation and advancement of this historically significant sector.

The eight-day program offers a comprehensive blend of theoretical and practical learning experiences. Participants will explore the science and history of both natural and cultured pearls and will engage in hands-on sessions using advanced gemological instruments, testing tools, and authentic pearl samples. These practical components aim to equip participants with in-depth understanding and applied skills in pearl analysis.

As part of the program, participants will also take part in an exclusive field tour along Bahrain’s UNESCO-listed Pearling Path. This visit will provide an immersive opportunity to explore the Kingdom’s centuries-old pearling legacy and to engage directly with the cultural landmarks that define this heritage. The experience is further enriched by a guided pearl diving activity, offering a rare chance to partake in the traditional practice that shaped Bahrain’s maritime and economic history.

Mrs. Noora Jamsheer, Chief Executive Officer of DANAT, emphasized the Institute’s commitment to offering exceptional training opportunities for those passionate about the world of pearls, and stated: " The Pearl Program provides access to the knowledge and skills necessary to understand this valuable natural resource that has long been a symbol of Bahrain’s identity and legacy, and DANAT is dedicated to delivering high-caliber educational programs that contribute to the development of Bahraini talent in the pearling industry, which continues to hold a distinguished place both regionally and globally.

"Mrs. Jamsheer further added that the program has been carefully structured to offer a holistic experience covering all practical and scientific aspects needed to master the pearling profession. Participants will not only gain direct exposure to real pearl diving practices and the characteristics of pearls but also acquire the modern skills and technical competencies essential for excellence in pearl testing. These experiences collectively aim to empower participants to embark on successful professional journeys within this specialized field.
