Relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt continue to grow across all fields, grounded in historical bonds, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to developing a framework of cooperation. These relations continue to advance with the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Egypt marks a new chapter in the distinguished relations between the two countries, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment sectors. The visit builds on existing agreements and memoranda of understanding that reinforce joint cooperation and contribute to the prosperity of both nations and their peoples.

The visit also reflects Bahrain’s consistent commitment to deepening cooperation with Egypt, in recognition of its leading role in the Arab world and beyond, and in appreciation of Egypt’s steadfast positions in support of Bahrain and Arab causes.

The Bahrain-Egypt relations are reinforced through the ongoing exchange of official visits, ministerial meetings, and joint committees, creating a model of strategic cooperation based on mutual respect and shared vision.

Political and diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt are distinguished by a shared strategic vision aimed at serving the interests and advancement of the Arab nation. This is reflected in the two countries’ positions on key Arab issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause. Both nations support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions. They also continue their joint efforts amid the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip to end the war, protect the Palestinian people, and ensure the sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in the territory.

Exchanged visits at all levels between Bahrain and Egypt remain a defining feature of their deep-rooted ties. At the forefront are the visits made by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Arab Republic of Egypt, which have served as a firm testament to the strength of the fraternal relations linking the two countries.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has also represented His Majesty at major regional events in Egypt, including the inauguration of the Mohamed Naguib Military Base in Hammam, west of Alexandria, in July 2017, and the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh in November 2022.

On the Egyptian side, His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has consistently made visits to the Kingdom of Bahrain to meet with His Majesty the King and discuss joint efforts to advance prosperity and development for both nations and their peoples. His most recent visit was in May 2024 to participate in the 33rd Arab Summit, following earlier visits in 2022, 2018, and 2015. Each of these exchanges underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation across political, economic, military, security, cultural, sporting, educational, health, and social fields.

Economic relations continue to expand, with bilateral trade reaching $443 million in 2024. Bahraini investments in Egypt cover finance, industry, construction, agriculture, tourism, services, and IT, while Egyptian investments in Bahrain focus primarily on real estate and tourism.

Bahrain hosted the second meeting of The Bahrain-Egypt Government Committee for Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technological Cooperation on February 23, 2025, chaired by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, and Ahmed Kouchouk, Egypt’s Minister of Finance. The meeting discussed strategies to enhance trade, investment, and knowledge exchange, emphasising stronger bilateral coordination. The first committee meeting in Cairo in 2023 resulted in 15 joint initiatives and 13 memoranda of understanding, promoting business collaboration and market access between the two countries.

The visit of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to Egypt underscores the depth of Bahrain-Egypt relations and sets the stage for broader cooperation that will continue to advance stability, prosperity, and shared progress for both nations and their peoples.
