Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, opened the Arabic Language and Islamic Education Conference organised by the American School in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The conference brought together Arabic and Islamic education teachers, heads of departments, educational supervisors, administrators, and invited guests.

In his opening remarks, the Minister underlined the vital role of Arabic and Islamic education teachers in strengthening national identity and embedding authentic values. He noted the commitment of teachers in Bahrain to keeping pace with educational developments, as reflected in their creative engagement and openness to successful global teaching experiences and innovative strategies. He highlighted the distinctive features of the Arabic language and the ministry’s efforts to develop its teaching through a focus on reading, recitation, and interpretation of the Holy Quran.

Dave McMaster, Director of the American School, delivered a speech in which he commended the Ministry of Education’s support for initiatives that serve both teachers and students. He said such events provide an important platform for sharing expertise and improving teaching strategies to benefit students and raise academic standards.

Dr. Noor Abu Atiya, Head of Arabic Language and Culture at the American School, said participation in the conference enriches various aspects of teaching Arabic and Islamic education by sharing successful practices, as well as through interactive sessions and training workshops that provide innovative practical solutions.

The conference featured three panel sessions that addressed challenges facing Arabic and Islamic education teachers, the role of educational leaders in supporting language and identity, and innovation in teaching methods. It also included specialised training workshops designed to enhance teachers’ skills and professional capacities.

The conference reflected the Ministry of Education’s keenness to support educational initiatives that advance the teaching of Arabic language and Islamic education and strengthen the professional competencies of teachers to deliver high quality education.
